IV (intravenous) therapy delivers vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients directly into your bloodstream through a small catheter. This bypasses the digestive system, allowing for near 100% bioavailability. Oral supplement absorption varies significantly by nutrient and individual factors. IV therapy may provide faster support for hydration, energy, and overall wellness due to its higher bioavailability.

When you take supplements orally, they must pass through your digestive system where absorption varies significantly by nutrient — some as low as 10-25%, others much higher. IV therapy delivers nutrients directly to your cells with near 100% bioavailability. This means potentially faster effects and the ability to deliver higher nutrient concentrations than oral dosing allows.

Most standard IV drips take 45-60 minutes. Simple hydration treatments may take 30-45 minutes, while NAD+ therapies can take 2-6 hours depending on the dose. Vitamin injections take only 5-10 minutes. We recommend allowing some extra time for your first visit for paperwork and consultation.

This depends on your wellness goals. For general maintenance, once or twice a month is common. For specific goals like athletic recovery or immune support, weekly sessions may be beneficial. During illness or high-stress periods, more frequent treatments can help. Our clinicians will recommend a personalized schedule during your consultation.

Many clients report feeling more energized and hydrated immediately after their session. Some benefits, like improved skin appearance or immune function, develop over multiple sessions. Hangover and hydration treatments typically provide relief within 30-60 minutes.

Most clients experience only a small pinch during IV insertion, similar to a standard blood draw. Our trained nurses use the smallest gauge needles possible and are skilled at making the process as comfortable as possible. Once the IV is in place, you should feel no discomfort during the treatment.

We recommend eating a light meal 1-2 hours before your appointment and staying hydrated. Wear comfortable clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up. Arrive a few minutes early for your first appointment to complete paperwork.

Most clients feel great immediately after treatment. You may experience a cool sensation during the infusion or need to use the restroom more frequently due to increased hydration. Rarely, some clients may have slight bruising at the injection site. You can return to normal activities immediately after your session.

NAD+ (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in every cell of your body that plays a crucial role in energy production, DNA repair, and cellular health. NAD+ levels naturally decline with age. NAD+ IV therapy replenishes these levels, supporting anti-aging, mental clarity, energy, and overall cellular function.

Yes! We offer add-on nutrients that can be included in most IV formulas. Common add-ons include extra glutathione, B12, vitamin C, and anti-nausea medication. Discuss your goals with our clinician, and they will recommend the best customization for your needs.

IV therapy is generally considered safe for healthy adults when administered by licensed healthcare professionals. As with any medical procedure, individual factors apply — we conduct a thorough health screening before every treatment. All our treatments are overseen by medical professionals, and we use only pharmaceutical-grade ingredients from licensed compounding pharmacies.

All IV treatments at VitaMD are administered by licensed registered nurses with specialized IV therapy training. Our medical protocols are overseen by licensed physicians who ensure the highest standards of safety and care.

Side effects are rare but may include: slight bruising or soreness at the injection site, cool sensation during infusion, temporary flushing (especially with NAD+), and increased urination. Serious side effects are extremely rare when treatments are administered properly by trained professionals.

IV therapy may not be suitable for individuals with: certain heart conditions or congestive heart failure, severe kidney disease, certain allergies to IV ingredients, pregnancy (some treatments), and certain acute medical conditions. We conduct a thorough health screening before every treatment.

Please inform us of all medical conditions and medications during your intake. Our medical team will review your information and determine if IV therapy is appropriate for you. In some cases, we may need to modify treatments or recommend a physician consultation first.
